Nutrition - Your Food Carrier, Your New Best Friend

This tip is designed to demo you how much of your success and those who have got mastered their organic structures come ups down to creating easy, user friendly systems and how something as simple as carrying your nutrient around with you, do a monumentally positive impact on your life style and have a monolithic impact on developing a lean, muscular body.

Your new best friend is going to be your nutrient carrier. You are now one of those different people who transports their nutrient around with them so that you will almost never lose a repast and you will always be able to fuel your organic structure correctly and precisely and go the fat incinerating musculus edifice machine that you desire.

Your nutrient carry system basically dwells of a ice chest type bag, individual nutrient containers, Shakers and protein pulverization containers, addendum containers and cutlery.

A few convenient practical intimations to see are as follows. The first consideration is size. A nutrient container necessitates to be large adequate to transport all that you necessitate but not so large that it is more than problem to Lug everywhere than necessary. To this end you may desire to see having different sizes of nutrient bearers for different days. The other critical factor in footing of size is how your existent nutrient boxes suit inside the container. The absolute key to a good set-up is matching your nutrient containers to your bag exactly. The tantrum should be cubby with minimum motion as this volition save eternal cleansing of your bag. If you are getting it all from the same store, take the prospective ice chest bags you are looking at to the container subdivision and seek them all out to guarantee you acquire a good fit. Ideally, if you can hive away your mover and shaker together with your nutrient that's great but the greater precedence is containers that tantrum well with the bag you select. Finally you should do certain your bag have enough pockets for supplements, cutter and other spots and pieces.

As for Shakers there are many inexpensive Shakers about that expression just like the better 1s but are in fact inferior. A good quality mover and shaker have a impudent top eyelid that should lock tight (you should be able to tip it upside down whilst filled and the eyelid remains locked). It also have a good India rubber gasket in the rim of the prison guard top half. Many cheap, crappy Shakers have got no gasket or a completely uneffective harder plastic 1 that makes nothing. Proper Shakers should have got mesh style grillroom as opposing to a sociable type insert as protein agitates be given to froth more than you like anyway so making the foaming worse is pointless.

There is a tendency also for the grillroom to be integrated into the prison guard top eyelid which is not really a great thing as you necessitate to maintain pulling it out to make clean which overcomes the intent of securing it there in the first place. Also the grillroom in the eyelid is sometimes used to replace for a gasket but doesn't really make the occupation all that well. A criterion trade name with the characteristics listed is the Ultimate Shaker. These are often re-branded with addendum company Son but the spectacles are the same. One concluding tip regarding Shakers is if you are using multiple powers, happen out which 1s premix the best and set them in first, as they are lest likely to bunch at the bottom. Of course of study putting the H2O in first is always best but if you are carrying material around this is not always possible. There are some Shakers with a separate compartment on the bottom, which is handy, but I am yet to see one with an adequate grillroom and I don't cognize about the gaskets on them either.

In footing of cutlery, I prefer to utilize plastic so I can just dump the pitchfork in the box after I complete without worrying about keeping it make clean or dirtying up a compartment. You can utilize metallic element of course of study especially if you eat steaks or poulet filets without cutting them up first before packing material them.

If you are taking a figure of addendums I happen it easiest to transport them in the plastic pill containers with the separate compartments and small doors for easy dosing. I also happen it easiest to purchase a whole clump and pre-pack them all so I am not forever opening eternal addendum bottles every day.

In the end it come ups down to something so simple - you don't transport your food, you don't succeed. You cognize what to make and how to make powerful fat loss and musculus edifice programs now you just have got to carry them.

Serotonin assists a individual feel less pain, anxiousness and stress, so it betters temper by increasing relaxation and calmness. Did You Shoot Someone - Is Cheating On Your Diet Really That Bad?

The adjacent clip I hear person state "I was bad" in mention to their diet, I may have got to hit them! I ran into antic people all the time. People who are successful in business, sports, academicians -- you name it. I could dwell handsomely off the taxations some of these people pay!! But make they see themselves successful? Are they happy with their lives? Generally speaking, yes-but there is 1 country in which they see themselves to be failures -- and they would merchandise their success any twenty-four hours to achieve this one goal: to lose weight.

At work last week, one of my clients came into my business office looking at the floor, as if she was ashamed. She was ashamed. We said hello, and then I asked if she was feeling alright. Slowly she looked up at me and said, "I was bad." I looked at her and heard myself ask, "Did you rob a bank?" "No," she replied. "Did you hit someone?" Again: "No." Sol I asked her what possibly could have got happened to do her so upset, and she said, "I ate three pieces of birthday bar at my daughter's party."

Why is it that people topographic point judgement on themselves based on their feeding behaviors? Person is a "good" or "bad" individual according what they've eaten? Doesn't it sound crazy? Don't you believe person is good or bad based on, well, whether they've robbed a bank? Abused their child? Voted for the other candidate?

Yet we measurement our worth based on our feeding behaviors. Let's halt this craziness, and set our human relationship with nutrient into perspective. It is just one of the many human relationships we have got in our lives. Relationships wax and wane-we're not always happy with how the human human relationship is going, but the healthy 1s last.

Let's salvage the judgement of being "bad" for when we really make shoot someone.

Becoming "at peace with food" is a journeying that affects developing a new relationship with food. Instead of being pronounced by defeat and disappointment, by fearfulness and competition between you and the nutrient you eat, nutrient will take its topographic point as one of the many activities in your life, along with family, friends, working and being active. And, like these other activities, it should be pleasurable.

To halt "living in conflict" with food, you necessitate to understand more than about yourself and why you have got the human relationship you make with food. As with most relationships, your human relationship with nutrient was developed over time, and for that reason, will take clip to change.

Love Chinese Food? Think twice before you order!

Love feeding Chinese food? Most of us do, but don't acquire fooled into thought that anything and everything on the Chinese nutrient bill of fare is good for you. In fact, most people look to Chinese culinary art as a healthy option to fast food, but the truth is that there are a clump of pitfalls on the menu, including high Na and fat table of contents across respective different nutrients across the typical Chinese menu…

Rice: Almost everyone loves having rice as portion of their Chinese menu. The job is that many people mistake “fried rice" with the much healthier brownish rice. “Fried rice" is really achromatic rice that’s brownish via soybean sauce and oil. It’s also high in fat and sodium. Stay away from the deep-fried rice!

Noodles: Never, ever, ever a good choice! Did I advert that they’re not a good choice? The amounts of oil used to cook this material is almost adequate for your adjacent oil change!

Sauces: Regardless of where or what you’re eating, you should ALWAYS order your sauce on the side. Restaurants almost always pour on much more than than you typically would and ordering on the side allows you command your portions. These sauces are also typically high in fat and sodium. Soy sauce for example, a basic of Chinese cuisine, have up to four modern times the suggested day-to-day allowance of salt in just ONE tablespoon!!!

Meat: If you can’t acknowledge what’s on your plate it probably intends you should jump it. You’re always better off ordering steamed entrees. That manner you not only could acknowledge what you’re eating, but you'll be skipping the digestion of meat that’s covered in fat-soaked breading (think General Tso’s chicken!!!).

Your best stake is to really take advantage of ALL the healthy options and order a small of everything, focusing mostly on veggies and steamed dishes. You could still bask your Chinese food, but don’t derail all you hard work by making the incorrect choices.

Small Changes, Big Potential

At some point in our lives, we've all tested to dwell healthier. We put our ends with every purpose of following through, and at the beginning, it's quite a rush. Our program is in place, and we're cook to suppress the world. But as clip travels on, the impact of such as sum alteration goes confusing and overwhelming. As our lives acquire busier, it turns much more than hard to integrate healthy alterations that really last. Unhealthy picks are much easier to make - simply because they salvage clip - and before we cognize it, our programs for life healthy are placed on the dorsum burner.

It won't go on overnight

What many of us don't recognize is that alteration on such as a expansive scale of measurement simply doesn't go on overnight. Creating a healthier life style takes patience, time, and dedication. We be given to fixate on making significant alterations to the type and amount of nutrient we eat, but nutrient is not the lone manner we foster our bodies. Exercise, relationships, Negro spiritual fulfilment - all of these lend to our overall health.

Getting started...gradually

So how do we make long-lasting and healthy alterations that stick? The cardinal is to begin little and to gradually integrate alterations into all facets of our wellness routine, including diet, exercise, and emphasis management. Start by walking just 20 proceedings a day, 5 years a week,or by joining a Yoga class. Those of us who have got even less clip in our busy agendas can seek adopting a external respiration or speculation technique, which will maintain us centered and greatly better our mentality on life. Food is no different - a weekly or monthly program that integrates little and wieldy alterations is much easier to endure than a host of significant changes. For example, during the first week, seek imbibing more water. The adjacent week, start devising your luncheons with whole corn breadstuff instead of white. Another week, get examining refined sugar consumption and analyze ways to modify. Yourl wellness will better and additional alterations will get to experience more than manageable.

With time, these little and simple alterations go routine, and getting healthier goes much less of a challenge. Best of all, you're changing at your ain pace. If you believe you can, you're already center there.

A Call For Vitamin D Fortification

Most people today are aware of the need of vitamin D as an essential vitamin. It is necessary in the support of basic structure and function of our cells and more specifically it is needed for the absorption of calcium and phosphorus. A deficiency of vitamin D can lead to Rickets, Osteoporosis and Osteomalacia. While some foods are already fortified with Vitamin D, and many people take dietary supplements, it has been questioned if we are getting enough.

An article published in the Journal of the American Nutraceutical Association reported on new research suggesting that many people are deficient in this vital nutrient. One study conducted at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Health Sciences found that 92.4% of African-American newborns and 66.1% of white babies had insufficient vitamin D levels at birth. The study also found that more than 80% of the African-American participants and nearly half of the white women tested had levels of vitamin D, at the time of delivery, that were too low despite the fact that over 90% of them had been taking prenatal vitamins during pregnancy.

Dr. Robert Heaney, a professor at Creighton University School of Medicine, has been conducting research on vitamin D for nearly two decades. He stated, "The amount of vitamin D in supplements isn't nearly enough," and went on to say "The principal obstacle has been we haven't known how much vitamin D we have needed until the past two years."

Current estimates from Dr. Haney's research estimate that the body uses 4,000 IU, per day, of vitamin D. The current dietary reference intake for women up to age 50 is 200 IU per day. As for the concern of safety regarding Vitamin D, Dr. Haney's research has shown that vitamin D safety does not become an issue until a person exceeds well beyond 10,000 IU per day.

In diet, vitamin D is found in liver, fish, butter, milk, egg yolk, yeasts and some mushrooms. However there is some question as to whether modern agricultural practices have resulted in these foods providing less vitamin D than the same foods produced only decades ago. The human body also has the capacity to convert cholesterol into vitamin D when the skin is exposed to sunlight. People with lighter skin will produce more vitamin D from sunlight exposure than those with darker skin. Again modern lifestyle changes may not result in anyone having as much regular, full-body exposure to sunlight as experienced by their ancestors.

Ultimately a diet rich in whole foods, safe exposure to natural sunlight and appropriate use of dietary supplementation may be used together to ensure that this essential vitamin is available to do its part in supporting optimal health.

How Good Is Good Food Really?

I have always been an advocate of eating right. And please don't get me wrong, I am in no way suggesting in this article that we all give up trying to eat right and start living on a diet of Twinkies and Yodels. That would certainly be a one way ticket to an early grave. However, we can't bury our heads in the sand regarding the real condition of the food that we eat. In this article, I'm going to take a good hard long look at some of the things that we put into our bodies that we truly believe are good for us. In today's world, good is a very relative term, as you will soon find out.

Let's start with something that almost everybody will agree is good for you. I'm talking about fresh fruits and vegetables. Certainly there can be nothing wrong with these wonders of nature. They're loaded with vitamins and minerals and help keep us healthy. Well, they're also loaded with something else that is hard to get around unless we go to special organic farms. See, in today's world where everything is about the mighty dollar, keeping our crops from being eaten by predators is our main concern. After all, every apple with a worm is one less apple that we can sell to the public. To achieve these ends, our fruits and vegetables are sprayed with pesticides in order to keep the critters away. Well, as bad as the pesticides are for the critters, they're even worse for us. Yes, the government has strict regulations on these pesticides and insist that the levels are not harmful. I prefer to take what my government says with a grain of salt. If you want to be really safe in this area, get your fruits and vegetables from an organic farm where they don't use pesticides. You'll pay a lot more, but it's worth it.

What about our fresh meats? I'm not talking about the ones that aren't any good for you anyway, like pork or beef. I'm talking about the lean meats like chicken and turkey. Certainly these meats that are low in cholesterol and fat have to be good for you, right? Well, have you ever seen what these chickens and turkeys are given in order to fatten them up? They're given drugs. Guess where those drugs are going. Right into our bodies. Again, the FDA says the levels are harmless. Again, we won't go there. If you want to make sure the meat you eat is really good for you, make sure it comes from a farm where the animals are not given drugs to make them look like Arnold what's his name.

What about fish? Certainly fish is very good for you, right? Well, it all depends on the levels of mercury found in the ocean where these fish have been floating around. In case you're not aware of this, the sea is not as clean as it once was. With all the dumping and polluting of our waters, eating fish can actually be hazardous to your health, depending on the fish you're eating.

The truth is, because of the industrial age we live in, the days of truly natural food are close to being over. We can come close, and certainly eating an apple is a lot better than eating a Yodel.

It's just not as good as it used to be.

To YOUR Health,

Steve Wagner

History Of Whole Wheat

Long before refrigeration, microwaveable foods, and artificial chemicals, people traveled from place to place to find food. They would pick and eat whatever grew wild and whatever they could find. However, when the population began to grow and more and more food got harder to find, the travelers had to settle and figure out how to grow food themselves.

Wheat could have possibly been one of the first plants to be cultivated, due to how well it adapts to harsh environments this seems likely. After it was discovered you could grow wheat, big changes started taking place. People realized they could grow their own food, so they no longer needed to wander in search of it. The stable food supply caused people to settle permanently.

The travelers became farmers, and as the growing of wheat progressed, so did the farmer's knowledge. They began to make the wheat easier to grow and eat. Gradually they started choosing kernels from their best wheat plants for the next years' planting. Which eventually ended up producing better crops and better quality of wheat that was passed down from one generation to the next. Very quickly wheat became one of the world's most important crops and to this day is grown on more land area worldwide than any other crop!

It has been said that the first evidence of wheat was discovered in the Middle East. When farmers began producing enough crops to feed people from other lands, trading between the various lands and cultures began. Eventually wheat made it's way from the Middle East to England and other countries, then into the United States with Columbus back in the late 1400s and early 1500s. Over time, the growing of wheat spread to many continents and countries and is still one of the highest producing crops in the world.

All of the wheat grains were consumed or milled whole with the bran, germ, and endosperm part of the wheat still intact. However, a new way of milling and mass refining took hold in the wheat business when the industrialization wave hit America in the later 1800s. These manufacturers began removing the bran and germ from the wheat, because it meant that the wheat products could sit longer on grocery store shelves without spoiling. However, during this process almost all the essential vitamins and minerals (not to mention the dietary fiber from the bran) are removed. Since this time there have been increasing health problems throughout America and other countries.

Today, whole wheat has been taking the notice of nutrition experts to contain healthy phytochemicals and nutrients that are essential for good health. So let's get back to eating whole wheat, people used to eat it whole long before we started eating it without the bran and germ, and in most cases they even lived longer back then!

Do You Fear Cancer? Why?

Why is it that cancer is the most feared of all diseases? O.K. we know for a fact that there is a high incidence of cancer in North American society. We all know loved ones and acquaintances who have
battled the disease – with or without a victorious outcome.

The Reasons

One of the reasons cancer is so feared is because it is one of the least understood diseases. Medical research leads us to believe that cancer is hereditary. If your grandmother had it, then you become conditioned to believe that surely you will, too. The fact, however, is that only 20% of cancer is attributable to heredity. 80% is in your control.¹

Billions of dollars are spent to try and find a cure. But, instead of it being conquered, the incidences of breast and prostate cancer has increased considerably.

According to one medical expert, Dr. Virginia Livingston-Wheeler, who has treated hundreds of cancer patients with amazing success in her San Diego clinic: "We all have cancer in our bodies it's just that our immune system is keeping it in check. It's the breakdown of our immune system that allows cancer to grow. If you maintain a strong and healthy immune system, your chances of ever getting cancer are virtually nil."²

Dr. Patrick Quillin, another cancer expert, says in his book Beating Cancer with Nutrition: "Scientists agree that nearly all individuals develop undetectable cancer about 6 times in a 70-year life span. Yet only one of three people actually develops overgrown and detectable cancer. The body is equipped to deal with cancer.³

But, of course you already know the "statistics." You cannot miss them as they're all over the news media. So, there's no need to go on and on with the pros and cons of this feared disease. Instead, let's focus on:

The Answer

Proper nutrition could prevent from 50-90% of all cancer. There is hope! If you strengthen your immune system now, you can take back control over cancer!

Research done by Dr. Marcial-Vega, among others, has proven that cancer cannot live in an alkaline body. Easy to say, but how do you get it done?

In a nutshell, plant foods are in general alkaline. Animal products, coffee and sugar-laden products on the other hand are acidic. If your blood contains mostly animal protein, your overall body PH balance will be acidic. Trans-fats, like margarine, and hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils are immune suppressants, it's advisable to wean them off your diet.

All this may sound a little simplistic. Yet, even if you're hooked on a lifestyle that does not contain mostly veggies and fruit, it can be quite a feat to maintain a healthy Ph balance.

The Solution

O.K. now you know the answer, but how can you satisfy the taste buds who have for years been conditioned to love all the acid in your body?

Well, thanks to Dr. Mindell's discovery and extensive research and testimonials with the product, there now is at your disposal Himalayan Goji Juice. Call it incredible, impossible, or anything else you want – only don't say a thing until after you have first put it to the test! Believe me, you will soon have nothing but affirmative superlatives to share with everyone who will listen.

What will it do for you? As it eliminated all fear from my life, I am sure it will benefit you greatly as well!
You will find many wonderful benefits and all the reasons what Himalayan Goji Juice is all about at Youth Makeover dot com.

Put it to the test right away! Saliva PH testers are available at your local pharmacy (the ideal PH is between 7.0 and 7.4).It's exciting to see the results for yourself rather than "a-hoping-and-a-praying" that something good is happening in your body. Very soon you will notice good changes, and realize your fear has gone!

The Power of a Healthy Mindset

Do you have a healthy mindset? What IS a healthy mindset,
you're asking? Well, I like to describe it this way.

As an example, let's say you get a bad cold every winter.
What do you say to yourself when the flu shot commercials
tell you that there's no escape. Rush to get the "shot" or
else. Even while watching these "warnings" on t.v. you see
yourself sick and can almost feel flu symptoms manifesting.

Unless you turn your thoughts to happy, healthy things,
the suggestive influence of the media's concern for your
health will have the power over you. Why do I say that?
Well, let's have a look at why you may be apt to take other
people's advice, including that of your doctor.

Are you eating right? Are you willing to invest some time
and money in products and supplements that will give you
optimum health - naturally? Or are you the type who thinks
you're too busy and want to eat only those things that
taste good?

It's so simple and easy to just go for the "shot" and
forget all the rest. After all, there are so many
conflicting arguments for and against nutrients,
supplements and health risks, aren't there?

Consider this. Instead of listening to all those voices
out there, who do not know a thing about you, how about
talking to yourself?

Do you realize that what you say is super important? Those
words out there in cyberspace are taken all too often as
the truth. Why? Someone may be speaking the fact that some
sort of research has been done and you subsequently tell
yourself that must be authentic. That is... until another
news item announces that this year's flu strain is not
what the experts had anticipated, and the wrong serum
caused more severe symptoms and many more deaths than other
years.

Take your power back! You are much more in control of your
own health than you may realize! Train your mind to look at
all the positive sides of life. You do not HAVE to get the
flu every year - even if you did so all the previous years,
like clockwork. You can just as easily say to yourself:
"this year I'm going to empower my immune system with lots
of great, healthy nutrition. I am going to exercise more
and look at the bright side of life."

Seems very simplistic, doesn't it? But, really it is very
simple. A mindset is really another word for attitude. An
attitude is basically nothing but a conversation with
yourself. You can be saying: "I don't feel like trying
something new, or getting another opinion." On the other
hand, you could love yourself enough to say: "Hey, I want
to be healthy and feel good. Let's see how I can boost my
immunity."

You can choose to feel better and happier by optimizing
your nutrition. Consider that the options of medicine very
often are the consequences of an unhealthy mindset.

Your power lies in the amount of control you give yourself
over what you choose to believe. A healthy mindset produces
a healthy appetite for what is good for you. After all, the
Bible says that God:

"satisfieth thy mouth with good things, so that thy youth
is renewed like the eagle's." (Ps. 103: 5)

What Is The Garlic Blood Pressure Link?

For a long time now there has been anecdotal evidence of a garlic blood pressure link.

Recent studies have backed up many of the beliefs that were untested previously. It seems that the compounds that give garlic its distinctive smell and strong flavour, also help protect the body from some forms of cancer by reducing the effects of cancer causing chemicals and reducing the growth of tumors.

Garlic has been used for centuries, particularly in Chinese medicine, and it has been associated with some miraculous abilities. Garlic has been employed to help relieve anything from a simple common cold all the way through to the plague.

While not quite the super drug it has been made out to be, it does have some significant healing abilities.

Unfortunately, for those who do not like the smell of garlic, the stronger the aroma it gives off the greater the medicinal value is considered to be.

Many growers of garlic believe that when it is grown organically the sulphur content increases, and so the smell is greater. So health practitioners will often suggest choosing organic garlic over other readily available types.

There is of course the option to choose garlic supplements, and these are a good way of getting the correct daily quota if the thought of eating raw garlic is too much for you. But as with the garlic itself, do not go for supplements that have "no odour" as they will have most likely had the active ingredients removed.

More recent studies have shown some of the incredible benefits of garlic, which range from having strong antibiotic properties, to being good as a mosquito repellent.

Garlic can act as an anticoagulant and thin the blood, so seek medical advice before tucking into garlic rich foods or supplements if you are on medication or just prior to surgery.

In trials of garlic supplements there was evidence to show that there was a significant reduction in blood pressure and it was thought that garlic powder supplements could be of use to patients who have mild hypertension.

Gout And Nutrition

Gout is a disease that is due to an inborn disorder of the uric acid metabolism and is also referred to as metabolic arthritis. When you suffer from this disease monosodium urate crystals are deposited on the articular cartilage of joints and in tissues such as the tendons. Then also causes an inflammatory reaction to the tissue and the deposits get larger and burst through the skin to form sinuses discharging a white material.

The bloodstream usually carries only a tiny amount of uric acid but if there is an increased concentration then crystals are deposited on the cartilage and tissues that surround the joints. If you have high levels of uric acid in your bloodstream it can also result in uric kidney stones.

The common effects of gout include the sudden pain, swelling, redness, warmness, stiffness in the joint, and sometimes a low fever may persist. Those suffering from gout are in pain because of the crystals inside the joint that cause pain whenever the area is moved, as well as the inflammation of the tissues around the joint which tends to cause swelling and soreness.

Gout commonly affects the big toe but can affect other area such as the joints in the ankle, heel, knee, wrist, instep, fingers, and spine. There have been instances where gout appears in the joints of the small toes which have become immobile because of an impact injury which leads to poor circulation and gout.

Hyperuricemia is a uric acid level higher than 420 µmol/L in males and 380 µmol/L in females. High uric acid levels don't always lead to gout. If it is suspected that you are suffering from gout the serum urate test should be repeated once the attack has subsided.

To get an accurate diagnosis of gout you must have a light microscopy of joint fluid aspirated from the joint to show intracellular monosodium urate crystal in synovial fluid polymorph nuclear leukocytes. Only a well trained specialist can distinguish the difference from other crystals.

If you aren't able to get immediate medical attention there are a few things that can provide temporary relief to the pain and swelling commonly associated with gout. NSAIDS including ibuprofen can be used to reduce the pain and inflammation, but stay away from aspirin as it has been known to have adverse affects. You can also apply Preparation H ointment to the affected skin to reduce swelling.

You can also apply ice to the affected area for 20-30 minutes multiple times throughout the day. Some may think that uric acid crystallization is increased with low temperatures but a recent study proved that those who use ice packs experienced a relief in pain without negative effects.

Simple Sports Nutrition 101

In bodybuilding, sports, and everyday activities, nothing is more essential than nutrition if you want to build and maintain your best body. To maximize muscle gains, stay active and get your body in excellent shape, you need proper nutrition. If your nutrition is lacking in any department, all of your training and hard work won't amount to much ... nutrition is key to a champion body.

Proteins help in the repair and maintenance of our body. They are essential for bodybuilding and sports of all kinds. Carbohydrates are your body's major energy source during exercise and high-intensity training. Fats and especially EFAs are also needed to build muscle and provide energy. Steroid hormones in the body are produced from cholesterol which is a type of fat. Other important nutrients for your body include vitamins and minerals. And water, although not a food source is also very important for optimal performance.

Here are some tips for everyday bodybuilding and sport inclined people on nutrition:

• Eat about 6 times a day in evenly distributed times.

• Keep the proteins high throughout the day. (Tuna, chicken, lean beef, protein powder...ect.) Take in about .8-1.5 gram of protein per lb of your bodyweight depending on your goals.

• The complex carbohydrates should start out high in the morning and decrease by the evening. (Brown rice, sweet potatoes/yams, whole grains, oatmeal...ect) Stay away from carbs altogether about 4-5 hours prior to bedtime. (For example, you can eat stir-fry with veggies & meat or drink a protein shake)

• Take a fish oil supplement at least 3 times a day. Stay away from sweets and eat your veggies.

• You can include nuts like almonds & cashews for a healthy snack.

• Stay away from fruit due to the high sugar contents except maybe a serving at breakfast.

• Drop the use of all dairy products during the cutting phase due to the high amounts of sugar and saturated fat. Use almond or rice milk in place of it.

• Drink lots of water, a 200 lb man who body builds should make it a goal of at least a gallon a day.

• Take at least one daily vitamin or vitamin pack a day. This can help in the utilization of other nutrients we ingest not to mention the other important roles they are known for. It is almost impossible to get everything everyday we need out of food. Vitamins are a good way to insure we do so.

• Always be prepared when it comes to your diet. With our hectic schedules it is always smart of premake all of your meals for the day and the week. This is best way to keep track of your diet and will keep your from making detrimental mistakes in nutrition by eating fast or processed foods.

Solid, whole-food nutrition is a great way to fulfill your body's needs, but nutrition supplements can take your body to the next level. If you exercise intensely or are an athlete, the best nutrition in the world sometimes can't fill the gaps caused by nutrient depletion. That's where nutrition supplements come in. A great way to complement a good nutrition plan, nutrition supplements can help you get your daily nutrient requirements and build lean muscle. Nutrition supplements can also be used as quick "mini-meals" during a hectic day when you don't have time for a sit-down meal.

Stay on top of your supplementation and nutrition. Read and learn as much as you can. Experiment with different foods to ensure a proper balance. If you are looking for a set diet, I suggest starting with the South Beach Diet or any other kind of Mediterranean health food program. They have all around balanced programs with great recipes.

That's pretty much it. Don't make it too complicated. Keep it simple and enjoy whatever you are doing whether it is bodybuilding, sports, or other daily activities. Nutrition is the key to healthy living. It's up to you to keep up with the maintenance of your body.

The Role of Nutrition in Prevention of Illness and Health Maintenance

"Given the history of Western medicine to date, many people seek empowerment in the health care of themselves and their families; nutrition is really basic component of preventive medicine and also an area that can be effective in corrective medicine for many common health problems." *

Nutrition is a basic element of health and should not be overlooked during disease. Some well renowned practitioners state that every disease is a result of improper dietary habits.

Because of the rapid increase in cost of medical care and desire to live longer and healthier, higher and higher percentage of the population is becoming concerned about nutrition and maintaining their health. Without a doubt, nutrition plays a big role here.

Proper nutrition and regular physical activity can help us avoid taking drugs or even have surgeries to correct the results of fast-paced, fast-food consuming, multitasking life with no exercising.

Healthy dietary habits (the way we eat) are the foundation of healthy nutrition. Choosing nourishing (whole, unprocessed, without chemical additives) foods alone is not enough.

Simpler meals (with specific combination of foods for better digestion and absorption) are becoming the top-choice of many, who are oriented toward optimum health.

However, the factors that are often overlooked, but just as important in healthy nutrition are:

  • the way our food is prepared and served,
  • the time of the day when we eat,
  • the setting in which we eat and
  • how we feel when we eat.
The way of the Western world is that poor nutrition is readily available everywhere, any time and cheap. Farmers' markets and health-food stores, on the other hand, are harder to find in some areas. In the end, all comes down to common sense. Our body is sending us messages all the time and if we would only learn to listen to these messages again, there would be no need whatsoever for trying out all the countless diets which don't work. So, even though our biofeedback is a perfect messenger, we tend to override the signals and follow heavily advertised addictions.

This kind of behavior affects the way we feel now, as well as over the long term. Being overweight is mostly the result of poor nutrition and low activity level. The only way to lose extra pounds permanently is to change the lifestyle. Choosing less fattening foods is a good choice, but not sufficient.

Because certain emotions and fear of creativity and change also promote unhealthy (over)eating habits, we need to choose personal growth (over addictions), decide what we want and stay focused on our goals.

Dietary habits and eating patterns from our family's traditions affect us all in our young age. As adults, however, we are making our own choices and decisions and we should keep asking ourselves why we're doing the things we do - and keep the answers in our sight.

When body is in a detoxification stage (like during cold or flu when bowels, secreting cells and mucous membranes become more active), it is simply trying to eliminate the buildup of toxins we consumed throughout the longer period of time. Eating lightly (especially fruits and vegetables) and drinking more liquids (clean, fresh water and herbal teas), supports the cleansing process.

Our dietary needs are changing with the seasons of the year as well as with our age. Growing children need richer diet to construct and expand tissues. When we stop growing physically, we only need to maintain our body, which calls for lighter, fiber and nutrient rich natural foods. As we age even more and our metabolism slows down, our food requirements decrease further.

Just like fitness activity is equally important at any age, so is the low level of stress. While under stress, our body may not digest and absorb the necessary nutrients so well and sometimes the additional supplements are needed.

When we lose our appetite in response to the stressful situation, that is a very helpful reaction. As mentioned before, in stressful times our body does not process foods so well. Not eating will allow us to "hear" better what the only body we have for this life, is signaling us, and explore our feelings.

Human body needs food as a source of energy and as a fuel to maintain life. It is quite obvious that nutrition plays a major role in health as well as sickness. Fortunately, there are more and more practitioners available who are nutritionists. There are also more and more choices of wholesome, nutritious foods offered online and in the brick-and-mortar stores. Information is plentiful. But it's up to us to decide to do and choose what's best.
